Instagram proof delivery lets you generate images that are perfectly sized for Instagram, with a customizable passe-partout (mat) around each image. Shootbin automatically detects whether your images are horizontal, vertical, or square and scales them accordingly, so every image fits neatly within Instagram’s dimensions.

How it works

When you enable Instagram proof delivery, Shootbin processes each approved photo and creates an Instagram-ready version:
  • Horizontal images are scaled to fit within Instagram’s landscape dimensions with extra padding.
  • Vertical images are scaled to fit within Instagram’s portrait dimensions with extra padding.
  • Square images are scaled to fit within Instagram’s square dimensions with extra padding.
You choose the color of the passe-partout, and Shootbin handles the rest, no manual cropping or resizing needed.

Enabling Instagram delivery

Open the Deliver page

From inside your project, click Deliver in the project navigation.

Enable Instagram delivery

In the delivery configuration, toggle Instagram proof delivery on. This adds Instagram-ready versions to your delivery package alongside the regular formats.

Choose your passe-partout color

Pick a background color for the passe-partout. You can choose any hex color — white (#FFFFFF) and black (#000000) are the most common choices. The color is applied as the background fill around your images.

Generate the delivery

Click Generate Delivery. In addition to your regular delivery formats, Shootbin now also creates an Instagram/ folder inside the delivery ZIP containing all your Instagram-proof images.

Folder structure

When Instagram delivery is enabled, each album in your delivery ZIP includes an extra Instagram/ folder container the Instagram-proof images of your delivery.
Instagram delivery works alongside your existing delivery sets, you don’t have to choose between them. Enable it whenever you want social-media-ready versions of your approved photos.

Orientation detection

Shootbin automatically detects the orientation of every image and applies the correct scaling:

The orientation detection works on the original uploaded image. If you’ve uploaded cropped versions through revisions, each revision is processed independently based on its own dimensions.

Passe-partout settings

The passe-partout is the colored background that fills the space around your image when it does not exactly match Instagram’s aspect ratio.
  • Purpose: Ensures your images always display edge-to-edge on Instagram without unexpected cropping.
  • Customization: You pick any hex color for the background fill.
  • Consistency: All images in a delivery share the same passe-partout color so your Instagram feed looks cohesive.
The passe-partout color applies to the entire Instagram delivery set within a project. If you need a different color for a new delivery, simply change the color setting and regenerate.

Downloading Instagram-ready images

Once the delivery ZIP is generated, the Instagram versions are included automatically. Your client downloads the ZIP as usual, the Instagram/ folder is ready to post without any further editing.
