# Review a project with a deadline

> See where to find the review deadline, what changes when it expires, and how approvers can request more time.

A project owner can set a final date and time for your review. The deadline keeps the review period clear and closes access or review actions automatically when time runs out.

## Find the deadline

When a deadline is active, the project dashboard shows the exact date and time in a label with the <Icon icon="calendar-clock" /> calendar-clock icon. Select the label to read more about the deadline.

During the final three days, a red warning shows the remaining days and hours on the dashboard. The deadline label and warning do not appear on other pages.

<Tip>
  Check the deadline when you start a review. Plan enough time to add feedback and submit your final response before it expires.
</Tip>

## Reminders and changes

If you are an approver, Shootbin sends an email reminder three days, two days, and one day before the deadline. You also receive a notification when the project owner changes the deadline. Your project notification preferences determine which emails and in-app notifications you receive.

Guests can see the deadline on the dashboard, but do not receive these deadline reminders.

## What happens after the deadline

The result depends on your project role.

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="Approver">
    You can still sign in, open the dashboard, browse the project, and use messages. You can no longer:

    * Approve or reject photos
    * Add, edit, resolve, or remove annotations and comments
    * Change photo ratings
    * Send the project back for edits
    * Mark the review as complete

    Shootbin shows an expired-deadline message on the dashboard and notifies you when the review period closes.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Guest">
    Your view-only access to the project closes when the deadline expires. You can still open **Messages** to contact the photographer.

    Ask the project owner to extend or remove the deadline if you need access again.
  </Tab>
</Tabs>

<Warning>
  Submit all feedback and complete the review before the displayed time. Unsaved or late review actions are not accepted after the deadline.
</Warning>

## Request more time as an approver

If you are an approver, you can ask the project owner to extend an expired deadline.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the project dashboard">
    The dashboard shows that the deadline has expired.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Request an extension">
    Select **Request extension**. Shootbin sends a notification to the project owner.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Wait for the owner">
    The owner decides whether to change the deadline. You can use **Messages** to add context to your request.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Continue the review">
    Once the owner sets a new future deadline, your review actions become available again.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Sending the request repeatedly does not send duplicate notifications for the same deadline.
